The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson

“There are only two things I can do better than most people. One of them is to make vodka from goats’ milk, and the other is to put together an atom bomb.” – Jonas JonassonThe Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared

If you want a taste of what this book is about, that quote is the perfect morsel. I read somewhere that it is Europe’s response to Forrest Gump and was surprised at how apt of a description it was. The story follows the adventures, past and present, of a hundred year old man named Allan Karlsson who played a part in several significant events around the world during his lifetime.

I’m a fan of flashback style storytelling and Jonasson’s use of this format keeps the reader on their toes the whole time.

The story is a fantastic ride from beginning to end and I can wholeheartedly recommend this book.
